Subscribing
To subscribe:
Send mail to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu. Put in the body of the message: subscribe wnysor-l (your real name). Leave the subject line blank.
You will have to send verification that you want to subscribe (but you'll find out about that when you send your subscription message) All other info will be sent to you when you've sucessfully subscribed.
To Unsubcribe:
Send mail to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu with the body of the message containing: signoff wnysor-l. Leave the subject line blank.
To Send Mail to the List: (refered to as the list address)
If you have already subscribed to WYNSOR, send your posts to: wnysor-l@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu where it will be re-distributed to the rest of the people who are subscribed. If you like, post an introduction message to the list, just saying a bit about yourself and your involvement with the scene, etc. Please note: You must never try to send any command to this address, as it would be distributed to all the people who have subscribed, and nothing will happen.
Where do I send listserv commands?
All commands must be sent to the "LISTSERV address" which is listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu. It is very important to understand the difference between the listserv and the list address. For example: The LISTSERV address is like a FAX number, and the list address is like a normal phone line. If you accidentally make your FAX call someone's voice line, the person receiving the call will be annoyed. If you do this regularly, however, your victim will probably get seriously upset and send you a nasty complaint. It is the same with mailing lists, with the difference that you are calling hundreds or thousands of people at the same time, so a lot more people get annoyed if you use the wrong number.
